Something old, something new
Ever since we acquired this beautiful Grade II listed house back in November, we’ve had big plans for it. It’s been an exciting few months behind the grand old doors of Fairyhill, and we’re delighted to finally share some big news with you. We’re proud to announce that plans are underway to introduce a state-of-the-art glass extension that's set to transform Fairyhill into a first-class wedding venue.
New build, same luxury
After months of careful planning and endless meetings with architects and interior designers, we’ve officially had the go-ahead and received full planning permission on our groundbreaking extension proposal.
The modern, glass panelled, state-of-the-art orangery will perfectly juxtapose the chocolate-box-pretty Georgian mansion that has captured the hearts of visitors for over a century. Yet, as these digital images from our architect show, the orangery will further enhance our offering without detracting from our famously postcard-pretty house. The aim is to inject just a pinch of 21st-century cool and wow factor whilst retaining the charm and character that Fairyhill is renowned for.
The extension will further demonstrate our penchant for contemporary design whilst complementing the original features of our period property. The two-storey glass orangery will be connected to the main house via our traditional Billiard Room. As such, our Billiard Room will undergo a revamp to transform it into a stylish second bar in order to cope with the busy demand of special events.
Uncompromising style, unspoiled views
With our 24-acres of listed grounds, it’s no secret that we have one of the best gardens in Gower. And guests will be able to fully appreciate this with the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the new space which will offer breathtaking, panoramic views of our gorgeous ‘English heritage’ grounds.
Our Managing Director, Andrew Hole, commented, “We are so excited that the cat is finally out of the bag. The stunning addition to such an iconic property will position us as a leading wedding venue not only in Wales but also throughout the UK. Having operated our award-winning flagship venue, Oldwalls Gower, for nearly a decade we feel we are in the fortunate position of understanding exactly what the wedding market wants and we have therefore tailored the build to especially suit these needs.”
“Fairyhill is a stunning listed property and we’d like to reassure our loyal customer base that we will be retaining the charm and character of the main house with minimal structural work being undertaken on the property itself. The extension is set to sustain Fairyhill’s success and legacy in Wales to ensure visitors can enjoy the property for decades to come.”
Ready for 2018 weddings - Book now
What’s more, as everything has been kept tightly under wraps and we only received the official go-ahead last week, we have plenty of key dates available for 2018 weddings. Our MD, Andrew, continued: “Most quality wedding venues will be booked up for weekends and key dates in 2018 which limits couples on choice, but given that we’re only now formally announcing our wedding offering we will have plenty of availability while we grow the market and this will offer couples the opportunity to be the first to experience this stunning new offering. We are inviting couples to visit one of our popular showcase events to see the plans in detail, snap up dates and potentially take advantage of ‘off-plan’ exclusive rates.”
You’ll also be pleased to know that whilst construction will start imminently, we’ve created a build schedule which will minimise impact to our restaurant and hotel.
Seeing is believing
