Hillary Clinton falls for the ‘Gower Charm’ of Fairyhill
As a luxury wedding venue, it’s fair to say that everyone who attends a wedding at Fairyhill gets the VIP treatment. But recently, we were incredibly proud to play host to a rather special guest.
We couldn’t say anything at the time but, if you’ve been paying attention to us on social media or spotted the article on WalesOnline, you’ll have seen that the cat is out of the bag!
That’s right, you’re eyes don’t deceive you. We were lucky enough to welcome renowned politician and former First Lady, Secretary Hillary Clinton.
Secretary Clinton was in Swansea to visit Swansea University School of Law, which was renamed after the former US secretary of state and 2016 American presidential candidate last October.
University officials selected Fairyhill so that the world-leading politician could experience everything that our iconic Grade-Two listed Georgian mansion offers during her visit.
A Top-Secret Stay
This isn’t the first time that we’ve played host to a major-league politician, with Tony Blair staying here during his term as Prime Minister.
As such, we knew that secrecy and privacy were of paramount importance. In fact, only senior management was aware that Secretary Clinton would be staying, with general staff only being told when she arrived.
While here, Secretary Clinton was very complimentary. Dining in our brand new K Room, she described it as "one of the nicest places I have had dinner in a long time".
She was also rather taken with our life-sized fake sheep that can be found in and around our stunning grounds.
It was an honour and a privilege to host Secretary Clinton and her entourage.
Exclusivity, class and discretion have always been key to Fairyhill’s success. Our team delivered an incredible event with their usual professionalism and poise.
It was a real pleasure to work with Swansea University and show Hillary just what our city is made of.
If you’d like to share the same VIP experience, come along to our next wedding showcase or book a private tour.
